Clean Mass Air Flow ( MAF )

Mass Air Flow (MAF) is a tool to measure the amount of air (mass) that enter into the combustion system. The number of the incoming air must be measured because it is important for the performance of the ECU (Engine Control Unit) which will manage the balance ratio between air and fuel, also called AFR (Air to Fuel Ratio).

This sensor is usually located above the air filter box that led to the Throttle Body and air sensors can get dirty especially when you have to replace your air filter with an oiled filter. Oiled filter is usually found in open water filters or replacement filters, such as brands of JFC / Simota / K & N, etc.. Dirty sensor reading which resulted in the error rate increases. End performance of the engine so disturbed, so the engine is more wasteful and debilitation.

At the Toyota Vios, New Vios and Yaris (1NZ-FE engine code) MAF sensor is also located at the top of the air filter box that led to the Throttle body.

To clean it, follow these steps:

1. Prepare a screwdriver and a bottle of Electronic Cleaner (Phillips brand).

2. Pull the harness clips.

3. Undo the screws holding the MAF sensor with a screwdriver.

4. Disconnect the MAF sensor carefully from the holder by pulling it upwards from lobangnya, and not to damage the ring-shaped seal underneath.

5. Temperature sensor with electronic spray cleaner. Then use a soft cotton to clean it (should be very careful, because it is very susceptible to damage)

6. With electronic spray cleaner to the existing wires in the water sensor. The wires are fragile and easily damaged, so do not wipe. Use the air to dry but do not use such high pressure compressor or hair dryer.

7. Let stand MAF sensor for a few minutes to dry. After that plug in place with a very careful into the hole, then tighten the screw again.

8. Use the cleaner in electronic connector or harness clip was removed, and then let it dry briefly, and then reinstall them. Done.
